Where are guests staying?
We have arranged a room block for $109 per night at the Hampton Inn Dulles South.
The wedding party is staying onsite at the Briar Patch Inn B&B, where there are a limited number of rooms available (only enough to accommodate the wedding party).
Where is the closest airport?
The closest airport to the guest hotel is Dulles airport (IAD).
Where is the wedding location compared to the guest hotel?
The wedding will be at Briar Patch B&B Inn, which is about a 20 minute drive from the Hampton Inn Dulles South, where the majority of the guests will be staying overnight.
We suggest you drive to Briar Patch, use Uber, or carpool with another guest staying at the Hampton Inn. If you need help with a carpool, let us know in advance and we can try to help arrange one with another guest.
Is the wedding inside or outside?
The welcome party is outside for food, games, and firepits. This may change last minute if we decide the weather will be bad or too cold, in which case it would be moved indoors. There is dancing inside.
The wedding ceremony site is outside. The reception is inside.
The breakfast is inside.
All outside events may be moved indoors if the weather is bad or it is too cold to have them outside.
Transportation
Airport Transportation:
There is a free shuttle from Dulles airport to the Hampton Inn Dulles South.
Wedding Transportation:
You can drive to the wedding venue (it is about a 20 minute drive) or you could take an Uber. An Uber costs approximately $12-$15 one-way to Briar Patch. If you have available seats and are willing to carpool from the hotel and back with other guests, please let us know. We have some out of town guests that might need a ride.
If you need a ride, either from the Baltimore area, or from the Hampton Inn to the wedding venue and back, please let us know. We might be able to help arrange a ride or carpool.
What is the dress code?
The wedding will be a cocktail/black tie optional affair. It will be an elegant evening. Here is a guide to different dress codes for weddings: https://www.brides.com/story/wedding-dress-code-explained
The ceremony will be at an outside location on the property on a grassy area. You may want to bring a set of flats to wear to walk up/down the hill and on the grass.
The Welcome Party is country casual. Country Western attire, jeans, boots, leggings and tunics, or similar is ok.
There's no real dress code for Breakfast on Sunday. Be comfortable.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
You will have the option on your RSVP cards to let us know if you require a vegetarian or vegan option for the wedding.
Can we come early or stay later?
We have reserved the room block so that you could come in as early as Wednesday and leave the following Tuesday if you want to do some sightseeing in the area.
What is there to do in the area?
We have a list of attractions, wineries, restaurants, etc. that we and our wedding party recommend if you are looking for something to do while you're here or want to do some additional sightseeing. Please check the "Things to Do" tab.
Will you be serving alcohol at the wedding?
We will be serving beer and wine, no hard liquor. We will also be serving a special menu of signature mocktails and hot drinks for that cozy fall vibe.
Is the couple registered?
Yes, we are registered and have a "Registry" tab right here on our wedding website where you can access all of our registries. We are registered on a number of registries, including Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Honeyfund, and Noritake.
Note: Some of the more expensive items on Crate & Barrel have been identified as group items so that multiple people can pitch in to buy them, but you must go to the Crate & Barrel website and search for our registry to see those options.
Will the couple be going on a honeymoon?
Yes, but not immediately. Due to time off and expense, we will be doing it in year following the wedding.
Will there be dancing?
Yes, of course!
Is there a theme for the wedding?
Yes! Our theme is "Under the Stars." We want to share a romantic, elegant evening dancing under the stars with a cozy fall vibe.
I can't walk up the hill easily to the ceremony site. Is assistance available?
Briar Patch does have a van that they can use to help get people up and down the hill to the ceremony site. You must be able to sit in the van, as they can't accommodate a person in a wheelchair in the van. You may fold a wheelchair and load it into the van.
How can I contact you with questions?
